Computer Science Ambassador: May 2017 - Present North Carolina State University Computer Science Department
My responsibilities include representing the department and connecting with prospective students. My driving mission is to recruit more underrepresented groups for my major: women, those from low-income backgrounds, and people of color. I want to be an additional support system for underrepresented prospective and/or incoming freshmen of both the Computer Science department and the university as an Asian-American female pursuing a major I am underrepresented in at an institution I am also underrepresented at.
Information Technology Officer: May 2017 - Present Krispy Kreme Challenge
Since my freshman year, I have volunteered with the Krispy Kreme Challenge. Last year, I was involved as a Web Design & Analytics Committee Member, which became the new Information Technology Committee. My work includes overseeing the committee, updating the website, and maintaining/updating the Google Adwords campaign. This year, we have maximized Adwords' potential by updating extensions accordingly. As of January 1, 2018, we have used almost half of our yearly $10,000 non-profit Adwords grant.
Brand Coordinator: May 2017 - Present Feed the Pack: The Food Pantry at NC State
Because volunteering at a local food pantry throughout high school both impacted
my perspective and fostered my commitment to service, I knew that I wanted to continue to work with food insecurity issues in college.
Fortunately, North Carolina State University is one of the first higher institutions to have a food pantry for the NC State community. I was initially
a regular volunteer during my freshman year, but I applied for an officer position to do more. As the new Brand Coordinator, I
update the Feed the Pack website (previously stale) using HTML with resources, hours, and other relevant information.
I also create and design promotional materials and pantry merchandise (ex: stickers, cups, shirts, bags) for distribution and
promotion. Additionally, I provide other graphic design-related services for the organization.

Wolf Tales recording: April 28, 2017
I am Chinese-American, and my cultural identity is incredibly important to me. I am passionate about the Asian-American community and having intersectional dialogues to unite marginalized communities. My friend Jeremy and I created a Wolf Tales recording discussing our identities, experiences, and some issues facing the AAPI (Asian-American/Pacific-Islander) community today - such as the "model minority" myth, lack of media representation, and the emasculation of Asian men. Wolf Tales is the NC State Libraries' ongoing initiative to collect the stories of NC State for historical record and future research. Discussion of the "Asian-American experience" begins at 3 minutes and 3 seconds.
Defend DACA March (Raleigh, NC): October 1, 2017
Following Trump's actions to repeal DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), my friend Sindhoor and I wanted to show our support for DACA recipients, undocumented communities, and immigrants' rights. The idea for the march came from a text conversation and the lack of Raleigh-wide, visible support for the issue. Over the course of three weeks, we partnered with multiple non-profit organizations and organized nine speakers for the rally at the end. Seven of our nine speakers were DACA recipients. We raised $1,399 on GoFundMe, breaking our $1,110 goal. Over 250 people attended the march, including Congressman David Price (D-NC), who spoke as well.
